Before we make the hour-long journey to our first town of Leonard, Michigan I should probably explain that anytime we are in the car together a lively game of "Crapper!" is always in progress. I invented the game to pass the time on long road trips to Traverse City but we are just as likely to play on the way to Costco or the local post office. Crapper is easy to play but hard to win if.....you're in the car with me! I'm a fierce competitor! The object of the game is simple....be the first to spot a porta-potty and yell "CRAPPER!" to earn a point. The person (or team if you'd rather play in pairs) with the most points when you reach your destination is the winner.

There are a few rules:
- Each crapper is worth one point. But red crappers are double - 2 points each.
- "Crapper Clusters" (multiple porta-potties lined up side by side) are also only one point.
- Spot one or more porta-potties loaded on a truck or trailer and you earn 5 points! If one or more of those crappers is red remember to double your points to 10!
There is one final rule that keeps everyone honest:
- If you yell "Crapper!" but the object you spotted turns out not to be a porta-potty, you lose all your points. So wait until you're sure to shout it out.
How would you score this scene?

I would give you 5 points for each truck loaded with porta-potties and 1 point for the "crapper cluster" on the ground in the background for a total of 11 points!
Tips for playing Crapper
If you are going to hunt any prey it is wise to understand its habitat. Golf courses, parks, fairgrounds and most of all, construction sites are rich with possibilities. Most travelers dread when orange barrels appear on the roadside but our family sits a little taller and goes on high alert because we know we've just entered "Crapper Country!"
Most of the porta-potties you will spot will be solitary creatures but remember, if you do spot a "cluster" of crappers you will only earn one point. Some guest players in our car try to count each individual crapper in the cluster they spotted hoping to wrack up extra points but they soon realize why we established the rule for clusters: Since this is a driving game it is usually too difficult (and often too dangerous!) to try and count each crapper in the cluster accurately while speeding by in the car. You are free to adjust the rules to suite your family's preferences but be advised that in my car it's MY rules and I get very snippy when people, who shall remain nameless, try to change them. The most important rule of crapper is to follow my rules! Whoops, I mean have fun of course!
Game on!
